Hi,

We are planning to perform Netweaver 7.5 upgrade in our Service Guard Cluster environment (ASCS package on one node and ERS on another, NFS package is on same node where ERS resides)

I am not sure how to proceed with the same. Do we need to upgrade on both the nodes separately or we need to perform upgrade on ASCS Node only.

Kindly help me with the same if anyone have idea for the same.

Thanks Sumit and Atul,

I mentioned NFS and ERS, only to describe how the packages are distributed.

I am planning for Netweaver upgrade. We are using Service Guard cluster, where we have two nodes, Node1 have ASCS/SCS instance and Node 2 is having ERS.

As per my understanding, we need to put cluster package on maintenance and perform Netweaver upgrade only on the node where SCS/ASCS resides. Correct me if I am wrong.

This must be HA I believe.

Yes, you are right. You should bring the cluster in maintenance to avoid the failover of ASCS/SCS . Stop any other SAP application server and perform the upgrade from only one application server with ASCS/SCS. You don't have to bother on the upgrade of additional applications. Upon upgrade when you will start them and take off ASCS from cluster, the upgraded version will be shown from every app server as they all use same database.

Hi,

If I understand correctly ,you are looking for NFS pakage update ,

In that case please check with your hardware vendor to get the best practice guide for same.

and if it is sap upgrade just follow the Sumit comments above.

Hi,

Not sure of the kind of installation you have when you say "NFS package is on same node where ERS resides" - is it HA? is it distributed?

"Do we need to upgrade on both the nodes separately"

No, All you need is an application server (PAS) to execute SUM .Stop any other AS while upgrade and start after upgrade.
