SLD - One vs Two vs Three

We just installed our SAP XI for QA and selected to use SLD on the DEV box.

We are planning to have PROD its own SLD.

Is there any disadvantage in sharing SLD between DEV and QA?

I am reading the past weblogs. Please share any latest experiences.

Regards

Mike

    Hi Michael,

Generally central SLD is preffered in most of the cases but u can go for common SLD for DEV and QA and seperate SLD for PROD.

    Keith.

    Hi Michael,

i ve been bussy in projects with one, two or three SLDs. Your own decision of integration design but no strict recommends. Usually you have at least 2 SLDs to avoid having systems like "test3party" in your productive SLD.

    Regards,

    Udo

    Hi Michael,

In many implementations,SLD will be shared for DEV and QA environment and separate SLD for Productions.

But SAP suggests to go for single SLD. Just refer this note- 720717

Right now DEV has its own SLD. QA we can choose to point to the SLD in DEV.

But are there any issues with using the SLD of DEV box as the Central SLD server. Is it a good idea to move the existing Products / Software Components to QA SLD and make the QA box as the Central SLD Server.

Also if I have one SLD for DEV, QA and Prod then are there any issues with High Availability and SPOF I need to consider.

      Help apprciated.

      Regards

      Mike
