parent child drop down lists

Hi - I need to create some parent / child drop down lists in SAP B1. For example I want to replace the Service Call Problem Type and Sub Type lists with new UDF lists from UDO.

I think I need to create a UDO with a linked child user table??

Is this the correct method? Would I then need to use B1UP to update the child UDF when the parent is changed using a formatted search?

I am not sure what you need.

When you mention - parent / child drop down list - do you refer to Bill of Materials or Production Orders?

Where would you need the parent - child drop down list?

I assume you know that once the Bill of Material is created the production order connected to it will populate the child items automatically. Can you provide more details about your scenario?

Hi Marcella - thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have now resolved this, but an explanation in case it helps anyone else.

On service call screen I wanted a parent reason for the service call, then a child reason. I created a UDT for parent reasons and a UDT for child linked to the parents.

We then used a formatted search to show only the relevant child reasons when a parent reason was selected.
