Best Practice for Geocoding in SAP ERP ECC

1630 Views Last edit Jun 30, 2020 at 07:58 AM 2 rev

Hi all,

I try to setup Geocoding in SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to get the longitude and latitude in the business partners address (in order to show them after replication to SAP AIN on a map).

I researched helpful information and documentation about the standard SAP Geocoder and found these resources:

https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/1402070

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SCM/Geocoding

https://help.sap.com/viewer/26ded70b840445af90b3ee8713712431/6.06.20/de-DE/b493cf535b804808e10000000a174cb4.html

I as well tried to execute the test programm GEOCODING_FIRST (SE38) and it worked (not exactly the longitude and latitude, but it's fine).

However, I checked the table in the wiki page and the customizing in spro (SAP NetWeaver - General Setting - Geocoding). These tables for the country and region are filled.

The table GEOLOC is empty in our system. If I open the transaction /ISDFPS/GEOLOC1 and try to test it, I am not able to create a new gelocation because the obligatory field "geoloc-code" is empty (no value help). How to create geoloc-code, what is it? I don't understand how to get the table filled - what's the best practice way? How to generate the geo-coordinates to a business partner's address?

Thanks and regards

Deborah
