Calculation of the depreciation with leap years involved and depreciation to the day

Hi all,

My asset have useful life = 1 year

Depereciation start date = 1.1.2020

Depeciation key: straight-line depreciation to the day

when I see in AW01N, the symtem caculate percentage = 365/366 . So when end of useful life, NBV of asset not equal zero. And deprciation of one day is converted in year 2021.

I have read note 1940343 - Depreciations to the day . I created a second phase with "Immediate depreciation" in the depreciation key following this note but It not have anything change.

Am I making any mistakes?

I'm in Sap s4hana version 1909.

Dear Trang TR,

We also faced the same issue but got it resolved from product team by getting a pilot OSS note customized for our customer. For more details please refer scenario 4 and 5 in my blog post.

Note: In the blog post for scenario 4 and 5, I have implemented a customized SAP Note given by the product team for our customer. In SAP S/4HANA standard depreciation engine, the scenario 4 and 5 will have a residual amount at the end of Useful life i.e. the NBV will not become zero at the end of useful life.

Your blog is very detail and useful. This scenario is stardard function of Sap S4hana. I explained for my customer and they accepted. They don't want customize to standard function.

In the base method that you have defined in the depreciation key, the Curb should be maintained as shown below. This is also defined in the OSS Note # 1940343.

I think system version 1909 have something wrong here. I tested in other version 1809 1709 They are everything ok.
