Update a single position record without synchronizing the change to other incumbents

Currently my client is using SuccessFactors. We would like to update some details of a position record. Is it possible to update a certain position record (e.g. job title) without triggering any synchronization with the incumbents records? Because we don't want to affect the records of current employees.
