MAXDB creating user : whats the difference between dbmcli and sqlcli

Hello MAX DB Gurus,

i got one questions about the usermanagement in MAXDB. When we create a new DB User with dbmcli with following command "user_create <user>,<password>" we can not find the user in the MAXDB Studio under the point "Users". There we can only the see the standardusers SUPERDBA,CONTROL, SAPSID. Why we can not see the created user with dbmcli under this section? Also when we use the following statement "sql_execute SELECT owner, username FROM DOMAIN.USERS" there is the created user missing :((

Nevertheless we can logon with the new created user via dbmcli, so it is a little confusing why we can not see the newly created user in MAXDB Studio.

thank you in advance

  • one more point is, that when we use sqlcli to create the user with the "create user" statement we are able to see the newly created user in MAXDBSTUDIO under "USERS". so it seems there is a difference between dbmcli and sqlcli creating users? can someone clarify this riddle? :D

Hi Robert, using the DBM command user_create you create a DBM operator, not a database user. See information here: user_create

To create database users, please read information in Database user | Managing Users
