Special Ledgers

Hi All

In FICO what is the difference between GL and special ledgers? What trans and/or Tables are used for special ledgers? I need to do some reporting on special ledgers, I have done a lot with the GL just not sure what is meant in terms of special ledgers

Thanks

Here is the definition of special ledger as per SAP

<i>Ledger based on any combination of coding block

elements. It is used to store summarized data for

reporting purposes. All user-defined special purpose

ledgers can use functions such as planning, allocations,

rollup, currency translation, balance carry forward, and

data transfer, in addition to the activity-oriented

validation, derivation, and accumulation of data.

Operational functions (managing accounts with open

items, commitments, and so on) are not supported.</i>

    Look at these tables

    t881, t881t, t800a, t882, t882c, t883s particularly t881 and t800a.

    Hi George,

A special purpose ledger provides the ability to produce balance sheets based on fund accounting. Most of the financial activities updating general ledger accounts will be posted to the special purpose ledger simultaneously as transactions are processed. It uses the split processor functionality to create entries to balance transactions among funds. The SPL shares the same GL accounts as FI.

The difference between the two is that the SPL will break the transaction down even further to allow the correct split by fund and business area.

    Please also check this tables.

SKA1 - G/L Account Master (Chart of Accounts)

SKAT - G/L Account Master Record (Chart of Accounts- Description)

    SKB1 - G/L account master (company code)

COFIO1 - Object Table for Reconciliation Ledger COFIT

    COFIO2 - Transaction-dependent fields for reconciliation ledger

COFIS - Actual line items for reconciliation ledger

COFIT - Totals Records for Reconciliation Ledger

    Hope this will help.

    Regards,

    Ferry Lianto
