Hello, SAP APO guys
We have a scenario where several constraints of molds (multimixed resources - 2, 3, 4,5,6,7, 8,9 and even 10 capacities) in a production line (multimixed resource - 10 or 11 capacities) were modeled as pooled capacities using different capacity categories attached to mold resources, production line included.
M1(4 MOLDS MAX) -
M1(4 MOLDS MAX) -
M1(4 MOLDS MAX) -
M1(4 MOLDS MAX) -
M2 (4 MOLDS MAX) -------------- LINE 01 (10 SLOTS FOR MOLDS MAX)
M2 (4 MOLDS MAX) -
M2 (4 MOLDS MAX) -
M2 (4 MOLDS MAX) -
M3 (2 MOLDS MAX) -
M3 (2 MOLDS MAX) -
However, we still remain with a requirement to restrict the number of different molds per production line (max 3 different molds).
I was wondering if using container resources would do the job but the question is that several products can use the same mold, so I cannot model it as 3 products maximum.
Another try would be If I use 3 different previous resources(single mix resource or container) and build a resource network with these molds would be a fit.
Any thoughs?

Paulo Gomes
Instead of Products, is it possible to model this via Models (Characteristics)?

Hello,
Resource in APO must be multi-mixed or multi-activity and have more than one individual capacity.
In the routing of the product , for the split operation, define Number of Splits = 3 must be set along with Flag Required Splitting.
then system divides the order quantity into the operation splitting quantities and capacity.

Hi,
Thanks for the attempt.
Split operation doesn't fit the requirement.
The requirement was to restrict the maximum of 3 different models per day occupying the polled 10 slots resource.
Although all other requirements were met, this one still remains unattended.
Question was if container resources modeled in a innovative way would do the job or which other design path would fit it.
Any other thoughts?

Hello,
Ah missed the point here, you want only three products to be schedule on these 10 slots.
I think yes resource network with container resource can help here. Allow Multiple Products checkbox need to be set storage characteristics. and With the product storage definition, you can assign the source of supply of a product to components and container resources. It is possible to assign several alternative resources.
In PPDS optimization for container planning with the consider Storage Properties field in the optimization profile with allow multiple products
