Is there a way to provide access to OLAP connection but hide it from user so that user can only open AFO workbook saved on BO server and not through olap connection
The user will require access to the OLAP connection on which report is based even to fetch the data in AFO. You can try denying View right for the user and check if it helps to achieve what you want.

This would be done through permissions most likely by revoking the view permission. I'm going to ask a moderator to move this post to the BI administration team for a more detailed answer.
