Initial Migration of Financial Master Data in SAP Master Data Governance HUB

Hello MDG Experts,

We are in the process of start implementing the SAP MDG-F solution and for that we need to do initial data migration of historical data present in the client's respective S4/HANA systems to MDG HUB system

1. What would be the best approach in loading data to MDG(G/L account, Cost Center, Cost Center Hierarchy, Profit Center, Profit Center Hierarchy, Cost Element, Cost Element Hierarchy, Company, Company Code etc.)

2. Whether we need to create only one Edition in MDG for initial data load or Can we create multiple Editions(if yes, what precautions we need to Consider)

3. Is there any particular precaution we need to take or point to need to consider while doing Initial data migration into SAP MDG HUB for Financial data?

Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

  • Hello

    1) Is your MDG hub system is also S4 Hana system? In any case use S4hana migration cockpit, whictis the best tool for your initial migration. Use the data transfer approach which will be very handy.

    2) edition is a business decision. If all your data is ready for use in upcoming FI period please create a single edition and transfer the records. If not then create the editions accordingly

    3) if you are using S4 Hana migration cockpit or any other tool, the configuration is a prerequisite. So ensure th chart of accounts, company code etc are available in th hub system, other wise you will run into problems during the data load. Do as much as test migration as possible to find th errors at earliest.
