Hello MDG Experts,
We are in the process of start implementing the SAP MDG-F solution and for that we need to do initial data migration of historical data present in the client's respective S4/HANA systems to MDG HUB system
Queries:-
1. What would be the best approach in loading data to MDG(G/L account, Cost Center, Cost Center Hierarchy, Profit Center, Profit Center Hierarchy, Cost Element, Cost Element Hierarchy, Company, Company Code etc.)
2. Whether we need to create only one Edition in MDG for initial data load or Can we create multiple Editions(if yes, what precautions we need to Consider)
3. Is there any particular precaution we need to take or point to need to consider while doing Initial data migration into SAP MDG HUB for Financial data?
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Ashu,
please refer to the How to document Using the Master Data Management Generic Extractor (MDMGX) for Initial Load in MDG - F under our How to Documents for MDG-F at our Community page under https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SAPMDM/Documentation%3A+Financial+Data .
For time-dependent master data please also consider the following section from the SAP note
2106479 as well:
"Initial Load of Master Data to your MDG System
If you configure your MDG system into an existing SAP ERP system landscape, you have to ensure that MDG is aware of all existing master data that shall be used for governance processes. Especially for time dependent master data it is important to load all existing time slices into the MDG system. You need to translate existing valid from dates into related MDG editions. If you do not import everything correctly, MDG cannot guarantee that existing time slices are not overwritten in SAP ERP systems during data replication."
