Hi Experts,
We are having an issue with the ECC Dev system. Full DB online backup is scheduled in DB13 (Oracle database ) in daily basis. Backup is taking much time than previously and after checking the log we found that there is one particular datafile that is taking much time to back up. Initially, the datafile was 30 GB and by HWM setup we reduced it to 10 GB because free space was there. Even it's taking too much time. Can anybody suggest the possible reason for this one?
Thanks ...
Hi,
You can also use option "-o time"/"-o dist" to generate additional information to check time required for the individual operations such as pure backup time for a file, speed which indicates throughput of the backup and so on.
Please take into account that the runtime of backup mainly depends on the hardware (tape drives, system and I/O buses), database/system load, the configuration and the size of the DB.
Regards,
Bíborka

Hi,
Without knowing any details about the setup/config of your backup, it is hard to say anything.
Usually, the backup is using OS tools to backup the files, therefore it would be anyway advisable to get in touch with your storage and OS vendor to see if there is any bottleneck.
