Integrate Approval Workflows from On Prem systems to SCP My Inbox app

Hi Experts

I have a requirement to make available various approval scenarios from different OnPrem systems in My Inbox app on SAP Cloud Platform. The on prem systems are not S/4 HANA systems, but systems Systems like SAP IDM, Solution Manager, GRC etc

Can you please help clarify below questions

1. I would like to get the workflow requests created in On Prem SAP systems in My Inbox app on SAP Cloud Platform? For example: A user creation request created in On Prem SAP IDM system. The workflow is in IDM system. I want the approver of this request to get the approval task in SCP My Inbox app. How do i achieve this integration between Workflow On Prem system with My Inbox app on SCP? Any documentation or link to achieve this configuration of Task providers would be helpful.
2. From Infrastructure point of view, what all should be available to enable this option? Currently, the backend systems are not enabled for GW. For example, I assume we need SAP NetWeaver Gateway. Please suggest Infrastructure requirements to achieve the same.
3. If the above approach is feasible to get approval notification from On Prem system in SCP My Inbox. Then, instead of simple approve/reject option in Inbox, would it be possible to use Open Task Item option in My Inbox, to open a WebDynpro Application from backend system. For example, If the notification for approval from IDM system is now available on SCP My Inbox app, instead of just having an approve/reject option - Would it be possible for me to open a custom WebDynpro ABAP in SAP IDM system from the notification in SCP My Inbox. How do i achieve this and what are the infrastructure requirements?

Hi,

1) You can achieve this via SAP Fiori Cloud.
We also plan a new offering called SAP One Inbox, to support integration of tasks from different workflow systems (S/4HANA, CP Workflow, SuccessFactors etc.) into a single inbox running on SAP Cloud Platform.

2) SAP One Inbox will not require a separate GW system.

3) Yes, you can also use this approach of a "placeholder" task in CP Workflow, with a navigation to the actual task in IDM.

Till SAP One Inbox is ready, we are looking at an interim solution to help address our requirement. I have some additional clarifications. Request your help on the same

b) We don't have SAP Fiori cloud, but we do have SCP Workflow service and My Inbox app available with SCP WF. Is the Inbox app available with SAP Fiori Cloud & the Inbox app available with SCP Workflow service, one and the same? Can we achieve the same functionality of integrating WF notifications from OnPrem systems (IDM, SOLMAN) with the inbox available with SCP WF?

c) When will SAP One Inbox be available for customers?

1) It is not possible with SAP Cloud Platform Workflow. Technically the My Inbox app is the same, but the functionality / supported scenarios are different. My Inbox in SAP Cloud Platform Workflow can only connect to the local Workflow tenant.

SAP One Inbox is on the roadmap and currently planned for Q4/2020.

2) For now the plan is to support S/4HANA and ECC (Business Workflow).We need to look into the applications you mentioned and see what is the workflow engine underneath and what is the roadmap towards support for One Inbox. As stated, the One Inbox approach is not dependent on SAP Gateway.

3) The idea is to use some event trigger (or polling job) on the on-prem system to always create a corresponding task/workflow in SAP Cloud Platform Workflow. You can store the URL to the on-premise task UI in the workflow context, and then offer a button in the My Task UI to navigate (via a new window/tab) to the on-premise UI.
