Hi guys,
we're trying to setup a Utility Network in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 with SAP HANA express as its geodatabase.
Unfortunately geodatabase in 10.7 are only supported for SAP HANA express 2.0 SPS 02.
The documentation for 10.8 states that HANA 2.0 SPS 04 is supported (https://desktop.arcgis.com/de/system-requirements/latest/database-requirements-sap-hana.htm) - but at the end of the page it says: "ArcGIS currently does not support the SAP HANA 2.0 SPS04 ODBC driver."
Is there any workaround for connecting either 10.7.1 or 10.8 to SAP HANA express 2.0 SPS04 with geodatabase functionality ? If SAP HANA 2.0 SPS04 ODBC driver is not supported - is there another driver that can do the job ?
Hi,
There was an issue with ODBC drivers after version 2.3.144 and before 2.4.167. It had to do with using the instance ID to determine the port instead of simply providing the port. In 2.4.167 and later, this issue is fixed. Our numbering scheme makes it appear that the ODBC driver version is somehow tied to the HANA release number. SAPs support policy on the HANA client (ODBC driver) is that even version 1.x of the driver is supported for use with HANA 2 SP4 or 5. Of course, any new features added to the ODBC driver in later versions can't be used because you're running an earlier version.
The net net is that the HANA Client 2.4.167 or later is supported by Esri for ArcGIS because the previously identified bug (miscalculated port # based on instance #) has been fixed. If you run into any difficulties, let me know at tom.turchioe@sap.com. Remember that if you're using Pro or on your ArcGIS Enterprise instance, you'll need the 64 bit drivers. If you're using ArcMap, you'll need the 32 bit drivers. I will check into the ArcGIS support page you provided and see if we can get this resolved there.
