Hi Experts,
My Solution Manager system 7.2 on SAP ASE DB 16 is not coming up since last few days, on further analysis found below logs in the Sybase logs SID.log under <SAP ASE DB Install Directory>/ASE 16/install
Database 'SID' (dbid 4): Recovery failed. Check the ASE errorlog for further information as to the cause.
00:0007:00000:00019:2020/04/07 10:58:54.22 server Started ANALYSIS pass for database 'SID'. 00:0008:00000:00019:2020/04/07 10:58:55.45 server Error: 3301, Severity: 21, State: 12 00:0008:00000:00019:2020/04/07 10:58:55.45 server Invalid log record found in syslogs (logop 141). 00:0008:00000:00019:2020/04/07 10:58:55.49 server Database 'SID' (dbid 4): Recovery failed. So far I have tried below notes but to no help
2195104 - Error 926: Database cannot be opened. An earlier attempt at recovery... - SAP ASE
2671154 - How to load a database in suspect state after error 926 - SAP ASE for BS and SAP ASE
Being new to the ASE database I don't want to proceed with further steps which might corrupt the database or installation. I have database backups till past week where this system was running normally. Please suggest how to resolve this and where exactly to look for further error log/details
Thanks in advance for your kind help
Hi Tilman,
I had restored the backup successfully using below SAP Notes, thanks for your help and support. Sincerely appreciate it.

It seems that ASE is still ok - just the DBSID database is corrupted.
So you can skip the steps that describe how to rebuild ASE .

Dear Mr An
The database is corrupted already.
To get it back online you should restore the database - see SAP notes
1618817 - SYB: How to restore an SAP ASE database server (UNIX)
1611715 - SYB: How to restore an SAP ASE database server (Windows)
(as it applies) for a detailed step by step how to restore .I am not aware of any ASE defects that would cause the error . If you want to pursue the root cause you might want to save a backup copy of the current state (all files under $SYBASE and all of ASE device files in sapdata_<n> and saplog_<n> . SAp support can then try to find out what went wrong.
With kind regards
Tilman Model-Bosch

Hi Tilman,
Thanks for your kind suggestion, I have gone through the SAP Note 1611715 - SYB: How to restore an SAP ASE database server (Windows) briefly, as its a Windows environment. Now the question arises is do I need to go through the entire rebuild process of SAP ASE as given in the note or can I try to just recover the SID database in question(using load command for SID database only). The other databases seem to be recovered fine in the SID.log present in the install directory. As I am not familiar with the concepts the steps seem a bit too much for the recovery of a single database. Please suggest.
Thanks in advance!
