Someone posted to a Prior period and was told "it was a timing issue".

I am not that experienced in SAP and have limited expertise in Accounting systems. However, when accounts were reconciled, it was discovered that someone has 'posted to a prior period'. The user whose name was associated with it did not have the authority. From the support team, they were told that 'it was a timing issue'. Frankly, that sounds like crap. Is there any chance that a transaction could be entered and parked, but later 'posted' by that person...due to timing?

  • Not normally possible so check the entry time / date & change time / date on the BKPF record for the parked / posted document. Then look at the change records on T001B to validate when the posting periods were opened/closed & if the special periods were secured. Finally attempt to replicate the problem with a copy of the user's ID in a test system using the data collected from BKPF & T001B.
