We're trying to determine if there are any products out there (3rd party or SAP delivered) that will provide this kind of functionality:
We want to selectively copy a subset of data from our Production system and copy this data to a test client on our Development system (we can't do client copies because of our database size). Our current R3 database is 5 TB (yes, we're archiving as fast as we can) so we're trying to find a solution to selectively copy data. We currently perform redirected restores with DB2 but we can't perform a redirected restore from PRD to DEV.
Please let me know if anyone has heard of a software package that will selectively copy data from PRD to DEV. Thank you.
Try using the product called Gold client. This tool allows to copy partial data from Production to any other systems.Very useful as replacement from client copies..

Hi All,
I've participated on some TDMS projects in Brazil and definitely the tool will supply your needs. You can copy all the tables by a defined data set (TIM Scenario) or to copy just the Master Data & Customizing (MDC Scenario).
Anyway this is only availabe to ERP products and that's kind of simple to refresh your BI Landscape since all you need to do is to refresh the info cubes.
Cheers,
Carlos

So, reading this posted messages on this forum, there is no tool available yet like infoshuttle, TDMS or DataSyncManager that can extract a sudbset of consistant data out off R/3, CRM, BI and XI. This could replace the tricky landscape copies.

Hi Christopher,
a delayed answer ... just switched from sap-db2.de to this forum ...
There is a product / methology from SAP called TDMS (Test Data Migration Server) that allows to build up test systems containing a subset of productive data.
You can find more information in the Service Marketplace following this link:

Hope this helps,

Hello Hans-Juergen,
thanks for posting the information about TDMS. I'd like to add that the current version "SAP Test Data Migration Server 05" now is in general availability since April 2006.
Some more information is available on Service Marketplace:

Quick question - are you looking at selectively copying parts of tables (i.e. a set of rows) or a set of tables ?
Do you want to copy all tables of a schema or just some ?

Thanks for your reply.
I'm not quite sure how we are going to try to do it but I believe we're trying to selectively copy parts of tables and certain whole tables. We most likely won't want to copy all tables of a schema.
I found a product called InfoShuttle that describes what we're looking for but I'm still investigating it's capabilities.
Have you heard of any other products that might copy subsets of data from Production?
