Converting Virtual Cube Based on DTP to Open ODS?

How should be the data flow for Old Object i.e Virtual Cube-Based on DTP while creating the same flow in BW4HANA system?

Old Virtual Cube has data flow as below:

Source(Data Source) ---(Start Routine)--> Info Source ---(End Routine)--> Virtual Cube.

I tried creating Open ODS in BW4HANA for the same as below:

Source(Data Source) ---(Start Routine)--> Info Source --> Open ODS.

I am missing 2nd Transformation with End Routine in my flow, how can I include this in Open ODS.

Do I need to load this first in an ADSO and then use it as a source or else is there any other way to create this?

    Hi HK,

Purpose of Virtual flow is to access data near real time or as it is in the source till that point of time hence staging the data to ADSO is not an option.

Your proposed flow is almost correct.

Datasource --> Transformation --> Infosource --> Open ODS view.

Implement start and End routines between Datasource and Infosource transformation.

    • Hi Prakash,

Though I see this as a workaround to fix for my issue.

This needs a lot of coding to be done to get the flow I wanted (2 Transformation with 2 Routines based on 2 Result_Package Structures: 1st structure based on Info_Source and 2nd based on Virtual_Cube/Open_Hub).

Here I created an Internal Table in Start Routine that is same as Info Source, then calculated my logic into the I_Tab in Start Routine and more coding later in End Routine, Result_Package = Cube/Open_Hub.

Going forward if there are more requirements like these to have multiple Data Transformation layers, is there any easy way to do it.

    Hi HK,

Infosources are best objects to be accommodate multiple layers of transformation logics in virtual flow and if the code is too complex go for Expert routine and take abap'er help.
