Virtual table in XS Project

I am trying to see, how I can use .hdbvirtualtable & .hdbvirtualtableconfig to create Virtual tables in my existing schema. I saw this old discussion:

https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/3700370. Is this answer still true?

I am able to manually follow the steps mentioned in the blog:

https://blogs.sap.com/2014/06/02/sap-hana-smart-data-access1-a-brief-introduction-to-sda/ and create virtual tables at these locations, so that means, I have the required access, isn't it?.

In order to create Virtual tables through repository, I did the following:

I created an new XS Project and created files, with the following contents:

File: Project\db\cfg\products.hdbvirtualtableconfig

{
"Com.XYZ::VIRTUALTABLENAME" : {
"target" : {
"remote" : "REMOTE",
"database" : "NULL",
"schema" : "REMOTESCHEMA",
"object" : "PRODUCTS"
}
}
}

File: Project\db\src\products.hdbvirtualtable

VIRTUAL TABLE "Com.XYZ::VIRTUALTABLENAME" AT MYSCHEMA.PRODUCTS

File: Project\.hdiconfig

"hdbvirtualtable" : {
"plugin_name" : "com.sap.hana.di.virtualtable",
"plugin_version": "2.0.0.0" },
"hdbvirtualtableconfig" : {
"plugin_name" : "com.sap.hana.di.virtualtable.config",
"plugin_version": "2.0.0.0"
}

After I activate the project, I do not see any Virtual tables being created under the schema. What could I be missing?

Thanks.
