Slow Performance of Fiori BI Launchpad in BI 4.2 SP7

Hi,

We recently upgraded to BI 4.2 SP 7 and we noticed SLOW performance when accessing New Fiori BI Launchpad. We have observed, Fiori BI Launchpad is taking time in two factors mainly ( this is purely our analysis)

  • Opening the Report, before showing up the prompt screen
  • After refresh, showing up the data in the report

We ran a benchmark test comparing the Refresh times (ONLY) between Classic and Fiori and it seems both are almost giving the same results, we even compared the schedule times which are almost same.

We have redirected the RESTFUL web service as per SAP Note : 2477486 but this doesn't solve our problem.

I saw a KBA on the Fiori Slowness (2657255 Performance issues in Fiori BI Launchpad), but this doesn't have an resolution.

Has any one saw this slowness on Fiori BI Launchpad? Adding one extra WACS server on each node will make any difference?

You should not use WACS, you should deploy restful on your tomcat or whatever webapp server you have.
Maybe even give restful its own webapp server to run on.
But ultimately, the issue is due to architectural differences. Up until that SAP Note 2657255 is updated with an actual solution, there are no good answers to this question.

    p.s.
You can try to join 4.3 Beta and test the new launchpad there to see if it improves this area for you.

Have you installed any of the patches for SP7? I opened a support ticket for this type of slowness in Webi in 4.2 SP7 Patch 4 and was told that there were some changes to the internal Webi code that might be causing the issue. We upgraded to Patch 7 last weekend and are seeing some improvement.

Yes, We moved from 4.2 SP 3 to 4.2 SP 7 patch 600.

How was the performance on Patch 700? and should we consider going to Patch 8 instead of Patch 7 if the performance issue is better?
