In our S4HANA Migration Simplification List, An item refer to note 2610650 and stating the reference object KOMP.
Now note 2610650 states "currency amount fields with a field length between 9-22 including 2 decimals have been extended to 23 digits including 2 decimals".
Viewing table "KOMP" in the data dictionary (in our S4HANA upgraded test system SUM), could not find any field with a length of "23 digits including 2 decimals" !!
What is it we are missing here ?
Is the simplification list run against our systems shows inaccurate items ?
Or is this something that is switchable or a step we was miss at the migration process ?
Based on the reference SAP note 2628654 - S4TWL: Amount Field Length Extension, the field length needs to be activated. In our test S/4 HANA system we also have it not activated yet.
"To ensure consistent behavior, the provided amount field length extension must be explicitly activated in customizing"
Activate Extended Fields
Use
In this Customizing activity, you can activate the use of the following extended field in external communication interfaces:....
Requirements
Before you activate the extended field, you must ensure that all your communication partners are able to work with the extended version of the field. Communication partners can be business partners or other SAP systems, such as SAP CRM.
Standard settings
As long as you have not activated the extended field, the system does not allow fields longer than the length in the short version of the field for compatibility reasons.
