Hi guys,
Just wanted to ask an idea regarding the upcoming database and OS change in our ECC server. They are going to move the ECC database server to another DB and change the OS from linux to windows.
1. What should be done for this kind of scenario?
2. Is there an effect/impact with the DELTA extraction for different datasources (2LIS extractors, 0FI, etc.)?
3. What should we do then to avoid the disconnection of DELTA extraction? Or do we really need to do a re-setup all 2LIS extractors?
4. Any other info that I missed to ask?
Thank you.
Loed
Yes, we change the OS and the server of our database (Hana) a few weeks ago. The main issue was the code page change (which impact the communication with our ETL). I'm not directly involved on the BW side but I don't see why this technical change would impact the LIS queues.

Hi Loed,
Some inputs:
1. as already said : test, test test !
2. I would expect no effect for this kind of change (OS + db server migration) but this is definitively the point to be tested thoroughly. At least, it will be better to empty the delta queues.
4. This kind of change can generate the use of a new code page (little endian vs big endian), beware of communication issues. The code page of the db is actually dependant on the hardware (see oss note 552464).
Regards,
Frederic

Hello - this sounds like a database migration, which we have done, and this blog covers the big steps: https://blogs.sap.com/2016/02/08/migration-to-sap-hana-best-practices/
I'll be honest -steps 2-4 - we had to redo completely (but not using LIS at the time).
Perhaps others have ideas.

Test, test, test! There's never enough time to adequately test everything.
