Material quantity calculation for component

We have a requirement where the component values are calculated in excel and then process order values are changed.

Business wants to explore the use of Material quantity calculation option in SAP

The calculations for components are as below,

{new MAT1 qty} = {original MAT1 qty} * 75/{batch characteristic for MAT1}

{new MAT2 qty} = {original MAT2 qty} * {batch characteristic for MAT1}/75

Here the factor 75 is derived by business from trial and error method over period of time

The concern here is system does not allow to assign formula to a material itself in MQC

Please share insights if anybody has encountered such scenario

Hi Vishal

Thanks for the feedback.

Please take a look of the attached screen shot, in this Component Material Qty is linked with the, Header material Quantity. Hope this helps, for any further assistance, please share more details.

Thanks & Regards : Raja

HI Raja,

Thank you for your input.

The concern here is that the business wants no relation of the components with the header material quantity

They want to change the MAT1 and MAT2 quantity based on the batch characteristic for MAT1

For example,

Header material 100 units characteristic MAT1 50 units 50 percent MAT2 25 units

Here the batch characteristic is maintained in range of 50-60 percent.

Post batch determination, once the batch is selected suppose with characteristic 50 then the formula should be,

New MAT1 qty= {original MAT1 qty} * 75/{batch characteristic for MAT1}

(50*75)/50=75

New MAT2 qty={original MAT2 qty} * {batch characteristic for MAT1}/75

(25*50)/75=16.67

The issue here is that I cannot use the original material qty. in the formula to calculate new material qty as I get invalid formula error

Hi Vishal,

Try to Link, the MAT 1Quantity, with the Base Quantity of the Header Material.
With that, you will arrive some meaningful relation , to get the Quantity of the MAT1 & follow the same for the MAT2.
For further assistance required, please share more details of the BOM Header & Component details, with the screen shots.
Thanks & Regards : Raja
