Screen Personas - Tab Merging Problem with F4

I have the following scenario -

I have two tabs. I want to drag a field off of tab 2 and put it on tab 1.

Then I hide tab 2 - since we don't want the user to see it anymore.

However - if the user uses the F4 help of this merged field on tab 1, and selects a value from the F4 dropdown list, it returns the user to the hidden tab 2 - instead of back to tab 1. Currently the user has to manually click back on tab 1 every time they use F4 help on these merged fields.

Is there a better way to merge these fields?

Hi Shane,

If I may guess, you are talking about a Slipstream Engine flavor, correct? The scenario you are describing is a known bug in SE, and we already are working on the solution. The fix should be available in an upcoming Personas client sources note version, at least for SP10. As far as I read, this is not planned to be downported to SP08 and SP09, for technical reasons.

As far as I know, this works OK in webgui, so when you select a value from the F4 list in the hidden tab, tab selection returns to the tab you moved the field to.

I don't think we have FLP... we are still on ECC6.0

That shouldn't be a problem... depending on what NetWeaver release are you on, you may just need to configure FLP locally, or you can have a separate gateway hub system and access your ECC6.0 instance using SE integrated into the Launchpad running there.

A quick search yields a basic FLP setup on ECC 6.0 EHP8 video as an example.

You could even take advantage of SCP and have your Launchpad there: https://www.mindsetconsulting.com/step-by-step-guide-building-your-fiori-launchpad-in-sap-cloud-plat...

With that said, SE should work OK within the NWBC as well, just we don't get too much demand for assistance regarding it, so either it is very smooth sailing to set it up or customers use other ways to consume their Slipstream / Personas flavors.

Tamas - my long term plan is to imbed personas inside of NWBC - is that still the best way to deliver personas content to my users who use desktops?

I don't think we ever labeled NWBC as the "best" way to deliver Personas-customized screens to users.

Our recommendation is to use the Fiori Launchpad as the single entry point for system access. Slipstream Engine integrates nicely (if properly configured) and FLP works well for desktop- and mobile users too.

Yes Tamas - I am using SE... should I not be?

Good to talk to you again

Of course you should use SE... but this one single thing needs fixing. It should be corrected soon, the resolution is already pretty close to be done. If you are using SP10 (which you hopefully are), it will be part of an update to the client sources note 2844657.

I would suggest creating a support incident to emphasize the need for the fix to be released as soon as possible. Customer problems and requests always take priority for us when deciding when and what to release next.

Good to hear from you too, and I'm glad you continue using our tool 🙂
