Hi All,
I have looked a lot on Google before posting this question here.
What is the use of external commands (created in SM69) in SFTP data transfer.
And what is the difference between RFC and SFTP in SAP.
Thanks.
You use SM69 to create an external command to run in the background of SAP at the os level if something needs to be done there. RFC and SFTP are completely unrelated and independent of each other. RFC is Remote Function Call in SAP. SFTP is Secure File Transfer

Hi Warren,
So, there is no connection between RFC and SFTP. Both can be used to transfer files from SAP system to non-SAP system and vice versa?
Currently I am resolving an issue in a program. It is a custom program used to transfer file from AL11 to non-SAP sysetm using SFTP. For which external command is created. I am trying to understand the reason behind external command in SFTP file transfer, when it could have been done via RFC.
Thanks.
RFC has nothing to directly do with file transfers. RFC is for system connections. ie. connecting system A to system B
