SP26 Installation issue, possible workaround?

Hello!

After SAP changed the version of the crdb_adoplus.dll file, the file does not install/upgrade correctly in either dev computers or end users computers, so after upgrading to SP26 the reports will not work if you use ADO.NET. The only thing that helps is to repair and reinstall both on dev and end users computers.

In the link below to a post, a person describes a workaround that I would like to have confirmed. Is there any risk of replacing the file crdb_adoplus.dll with the correct one when the end users upgrade my application? Are there any other files that have been version changed? I can attach the file (s) in my own installation package and replace/copy it to the right place.

PS. Uninstalling existing CR (sp21-24) on end user via Advanced Installer and custom script will not work and end user will need to repair the new installation anyway.

I'm just going by what R&D is saying. I'll ask them if they can change it to do a force install.

I'm assuming they already tried but for some reason MSIExec is not allowing that to happen.

FYI - Developers are in Shanghai and it's the Chinese new year so they are not available this week.

    Hi Mikael,

Manually copying should work, it's the only one updated, reversioned.

Not sure why it won't work. it may need a reboot first.

Are you still using the merge modules or are you using the MSI packages?

    Hi Don!

Have tested with both MSI and MergeModule. Same result :(

PS: What I do not understand is why you do not want to fix this installation bug. It should be so easy to fix! You do not need to change the file version again. Just change the installer to always copy the file no matter what version is already installed. Check for "overwrite behavior" or similar in your installer.

    Hi don!

Have you heard anything about this. Will your dev fix this in the installation?

    Hi Mikael and Don,

Have you two found out more regarding this topic?

I saw your Previous post as well.

Ever since this discussion I see that SP 27 has been made.

Did SP 27 address this issue?
