Fixed asset with depreciation

How to create Fixed Asset Master record with depreciation and system should prevent posting of ordinary (regular) depreciation as a result of the depreciation run to a subsequent period if the current period has not been posted.

Please guide me.

Dear Devaraj,

Create an asset in AS01. In Depr.Areas tab select a Depreciation Key with 0% Depreciation rate, like 0000. During depreciation run, no depreciation will be posted to this asset. When the asset is created, go to AW01N and enter your created asset number. In the Posted Values tab, planned values for depreciation for the following periods will be 0.

When shall I check for the ordinary (regular) depreciation calculated based on the useful life and depreciation key assigned to the asset. In AS03? If yes, navigation please.

Dear Devaraj,

For a single asset, in AW01N, asset explorer see posted values tab, to see what has been posted and what is planned to be posted. In the Parameters tab, you can check the Dep.Key assigned, Useful Life, Exp.Useful Life & Remaining Life.

For all you Assets or a Group of Assets go to report S_ALR_87012026 - Depreciation Current Year. In Change Layout make sure you include DepKey & Life fields.

Now i got it you would like to see where the GL Accounts for Fixed Assets posting & Depreciation are set up. This is done in A090
