Budget Period and Carry Forward

Dear FM Gurus,

I have encountered some issues in FM, i have activated Budget Period in my current project, as i know Budget Period in FM is Account Assignment and not in calendar/time terms. I have created Commitment document (PO) in Q4 Previous year, when i run FMJ2 (Commitment Carry Forward), the commitment is moved to Q4 Current Year, the question, is it standard FM behaviour when you activated Budget Period? because to me, it is not the best practiced because we can't control when will the realisation of Commitment be happen. If indeed this is standard behaviour, then please let me know if you have any workaround and advise to solve the issue.

Regards,

Angga S

Hi,

When you do carry-forward FM assignment is not changed unless you define reassignment strategy in the system to do so. You define this strategy in FMYC transaction.

Hi,

What do you mean by Q4 of the current year? FM posting date? Or some Budget Period which is called 'Q4'? In this last case, it is up to you to set the carry-forward rules for reassignment during year-end transition. If you want Q4 to become Q1 during carry-forward for your budget period assignment, you can do it.

Hi Eli,

Thanks for your response, the Q4 in this case is indeed Budget Period. the Commitment is created with Budget Period Q4 in 2019, and when i execute FMJ2 the result is the Commitment move to Q4 in 2020, this is not the result that i expected it to be, the result should be Q1 based on posting date. for Reassignment, we do it through Configuration or it can be done via transaction code?
