How to decide SAP PO use for a scenario

Hi All,

On what all parameters an architect decide to include a PI middleware for a scenario?

I have a Proxy to JDBC scenario in which SAP sends 1 billion records in a single message to PO, PO needs to INSERT these records at dB end and trigger SP.

As part of testing 45k records were triggered and PO took approx 2hrs to deliver the data. Why PO took this much time for processing? Is it a correct approach to include PO for this scenario, the interface runs once daily.

P.S. I am working on PO 7.5 Single stack
