How to catch error in webdynpro

Hi All,

When an exception is shown on the browser when working with WebDynpro how should we track the error.

I am learning WebDynpro using Java.

With the help given in help.sap.com I have developed the quiz program.And when I execute that Iam getting the exception saying

500 Internal server error

"Failed to process request. Please contact your system administrator."

Any suggestion on how to track the error would be helpful to me.Also please let me know the appropriate forum for this sought of qns.

Regards,

Nagaraju Donikena.

    Hi Nagaraju,

    You can use the debug feature to debug the code. For more details on how to use this feature, kindly visit this link:

    Here I have explained the way in which we can get the error in the log trace file.

    I hope this helps you.

      Hi Nagaraju,

      Its gr8!! that you found the solution for your problem.

      Also, you need not check each and every defualt trace file for the error. Just go to the folder which I have mentioned and Click the folder option <b>View</b> and arrange all the items by <b>"Details"</b>, then open that defualt trace file which is <b>last modified</b> or have the <b>least size</b>.

      Actually logging to these log file goes in a <b>Round Robin</b> fashion. There are in total of 20 files (0-19). The size of each log file is set to 10 MB. Once that is filled it goes to next defualt trace file. After filling all these 20 files the counter goes again back to <b>default trace 0</b> after file <i>default.trace 19</i>.

      I hope you got the idea. If any further clarification required then kindly revert back.

      Regards

      Pravesh

      PS: If the problem is solved then close the thread and reward point accordingly.

    Thanks a lot a pravesh.

    Both the methods will be helpful.

    You have suggested to use trace file in log viewer.

    In that I can see three files defaultTrace.0.trc

    defaultTrace.1.trc

    defaultTrace.2.trc .

    The code in the doInit method was throwing exception and catch method I have written

    Catch(Exception e){

    System.err.prinln("nag:exception"+e);

    }

    In debugging I could see the exception getting thrown and control has gone to catch block.

    But when I check the above trace files I could not find the error logged. Could you say where to find the excepton raised.
