how to use http://help.sap.com to locate R3 extraction program?

Many people tend to use http://help.sap.com to find some useful info. We try to use this website to locate R3 extraction program documentation by following the following path:

http://help.sap.com/ -> click SAP NewWeaver -> click SAP NetWeaver 2004 -> select English for SAP NetWeaver 2004 (SPS 16) -> Click BI Content from the top 2nd to the left menu, the right frame would show "BI Content" documentation with "R/3 extractor programs" for 1st bullet point under "Features", this bullet point line is not a link that we can't continue to find R3 extractor documentation. The left frame list all the categories of BI Content, but can't find any R3 extraction category!

Good question. This menu path is not stable and it changes very freequently. Check this link for BI and save it to your favorites.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/e60138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm

In the search window( In the top) give the program name which you are looking for.

I am not sure you are looking for this answer or some thing else. If this is not clear please post back again

What do you mean by exactly the extraction Programming documentation. Under BI Content we could see the datasources and each datasource tells the Table of origin and field in the extract structure and all.

see this example

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1d/714e8154e340408512b23362eaeac5/frameset.htm

Thats what we could see from BI Content

hi Kevin,

i guess you refer this link

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/37/5fb13cd0500255e10000000a114084/frameset.htm

...

Features

SAP Business Information Warehouse delivers pre-configured objects under the collective

....

Business Content includes:

· R/3 extractor programs

· DataSources

i think this page doesn't mean you will find the documentation for r/3 extractor programs, in terms of you will see all the code with explanation but it means that business content covered these 'objects'.

we can know which extractor program is used by checking the datasource documentation, here we also get the origin table, structure etc. e.g

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3f/fbf83a0dfa5102e10000000a114084/frameset.htm

....

This DataSource replaces DataSource 0FI_AP_3 (Accounts Payable: Line Items) and uses the same extraction structure. The migration of DataSource 0FI_AP_3 to new DataSource 0FI_AP_4 is described in OSS note 410797.

· Source structure: BSIK, BSAK

· Extractor: BWFID_GET_FIAP_ITEM

· Extract structure OLTP: DTFIAP_3

...

we get some useful info - changes of datasource used, oss note, structure bsik bsak, extractor is BWFID_GET_FIAP_ITEM

if you want to know which extractor program used, also you can go to r/3 and view table ROOSOURCE field EXTRACTOR. use se37 you can see the BWFID_GET_FIAP_ITEM

function module codes.

hope this helps.

hi AHP,

The reason why I posted this question is that someone told us that the following is from SAP Help on R3 extraction program(see below in between two dashed lines):

-

The BW extract 0FI_GL_4 currently controls when the following fields are populated

AWREF – Reference Document Number

AWGJA – Fiscal Year for Reference Document Number

AWBUK – Company Code for Reference Document Number

AWKOK – Controlling Area for Reference Document Number

The program currently decides whether to populate these fields based on the value of BKPF-AWTYP and BKPF-AWKEY.

-

In our client, currently BKPF-AWTYP is being populated with “IDOC” for EBP Payment requests ; this causing the fields to be ignored.

In normal circumstances the reference document is another existing SAP financial document in R3. The AWTYP of “IDOC” is used to indicate an external document.

We have to decide whether to make an enhancement to the user exit to assign the existing fields or to create our own BW fields.

hi Kevin,

i see ... i think it's taken from here

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/8b/02f93abb013b0de10000000a114084/frameset.htm

perhaps OSS note 410799 mentioned help ?

...

1) Currency types CURT2 and CURT3 and currency keys HWAE2 and HWAE3 for the second/third local currency are determined in the R/3 source system from the company code data using function module FI_CURRENCY_INFORMATION.

2) Fields AWREF, AWGJA, AWBUK and AWKOK for the source document are derived from BKPF-AWTYP and BKPF-AWKEY using function module BWFIU_GET_DOCUMENT_ORIGIN.

3) The procedure for customer exits is described in OSS note 410799.

....

hope this helps.
