SAP password reset !!

hi sap master !

i have small doubt,

i have 100 user in development system and i changed "login/password_expiration_time" ( rz10 parameters ) to 90 days from 1 January 2020 !!

so after 90 days from 1st January 2020 password reset pop-up will appear right ?

what if i created a new user on 20 January, when will that user get password rest pop up ??

    Hi,

it is a little bit different.

The validity period for password by parameter "login/password_expiration_time" is always calculated based on the last date the password was changed (Table USR02 Field PWDCHGDATE) for every single user.

When new value ’90’ is activated by restart on 1st of January 2020 it takes effect immediately.

That means (and what I saw in the past in comparable situations) by examples in your case:

    • after restart when you have changed the parameter to 90 days every user with last password change date 90 days and longer before 1st of January 2020 ( 90 days = 3rd of October 2019 ) will get a pop-up to change the password at once on next logon
    • for every user who has changed the password after 3rd of October 2019 (e.g. on 3rd of December 2109) password will be valid until 90 days from this last password change (e.g. to 3rd of March 2020)
    • when same user is changing password again on 21st of January 2020 it will be valid again 90 days from this day of change until 20th of April 2020
    • when you create a user on 25th of January 2020 and same day password was changed it will be valid 90 days until 24th of April 2020

    Hope this helps

    Klaus
