Hi all,
I know that Microsoft were intending to remove support for OLE DB connectivity in deference to ODBC.
This appears to reversed with support extended to SQL Server 2019
But OLE DB is only available for use as a universe connection under SQL Server 2014
Does anyone have any idea on this?
For SQL Server 2014, you need to install either the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 or Microsoft's ODBC Driver 13 for SQL Server. The SQL Server client that is normally installed with Windows won't work.

as markus Jauß said, ODBC and JDBC also supported with MS-SQL Server 2014.
For a complete list of supported data sources, see PAM page 24 and download the "Semantic Layer Datasources" file
