SAP Table maintenance dialog allows blank values in key fields that has value tables associated

I have created a custom table that has 4 key fields and one non key field. Each key field is associated with domain that has value table. I created a table maintenance view for adding and modifying entries into this table.

When I add a new entry in this table using transaction SM30 and enter the value in non-key field and then save it, surprisingly, it saves the entry with all key fields as blank. How come? I thought, it will check the value table entries and will throw error as value tables for key fields do not have blank entries.

I know I can create an event exit and force entry in key fields. But I expect SAP table maintenance code should be checking valid key field entries before it saves the table entry,

Any assistance solving this mystery will be appreciated.

Thanks.
