SDI Replication Task and Virtual Tables

Assuming a replication task is already created when we use SDI, I would like to understand the impact if there are changes to the source table(addition or deletion of columns). Does the new table get reflected automatically? Or we need to recreate the replication task? Please clarify

For a replication task - and if the adapter supports it - there is a feature to replicate structure changes also.
