Preventative Maintenance Runtime based Issue/Concerns

We have our PMs set up as hour based generation. However, it appears if we do not get any input or an measuring documents showing increase by the proposed time in forecast tab, SAP reverts to the date proposed and generates a work order regardless of enough hours run or not. Is this correct action?? As it doesn't seem right, if equipment down for a length of time and isn't running we shouldn't generate an order??? Please advise

Eric,

You state: Yes we have them entered daily, via a batch job, for a zero difference, around approx. 5 AM EST

If you are always entering a zero difference, then these measurement documents are useless??

Can you send an IK17 list of measurements for one of these equipment?

Also send the correcsponding IP10 screen shot of the calls.

Thanks for your quick response. Please see my answers below:

* Yes we have them entered daily, via a batch job, for a zero difference, around approx. 5 AM EST

* We have most pieces of equipment set up for 8760 (24/7) annual estimate

* And this is an issue as there are at times 300 - 500 pieces of equipment one Maint. manager may be in charge of they do not have time to turn on and off maintenance plans. And the whole reason for using Hour or runtime based plans is so we don't have to do this.

Please advise

Eric,

You will get a better response if you tag your post with

Some questions:

  • Are you entering measurement documents regularly
  • Are the annual estimates accurate
  • If you have planned downtime, then sometimes its better to make the plan inactive. There is supposed to be a new development that allows a start/end date to be entered for the plan (OSS Note probably).
