SAP HANA installation --> FAIL: process hdbindexserver NDB indexserver not running.

Hi everyone.

I am using Linux SLES 12 SP3 for the installation of this part.

When I started to see the installing page, this error message prompt while installing SAP HANA database.

I have also attached a log file for this issue.

Please help me in this issue, any replies will be very much appreciated.

Log files might look intimidating at first but they are actually quite informative:

20:56:29.413 - INFO:    Physical memory on this host is 7.583 GB. Minimum required: 24 GB.
20:56:29.413 - ERR:    Override memory check with command line option --hdbinst_server_ignore=check_min_mem

In this case, I would not proceed with the suggestion to override the memory check. Most SAP HANA configurations require a bit more than 8GB of RAM. Typical configurations start with 64GB.

There is a developer edition, which you can run with just the database server with ± 8GB (server-only). For the platform (including the application server), you will need 24GB. From the error log, I deduce that this is the version you downloaded.

As 24GB laptops do not come cheap, consider running SAP HANA, express edition in the cloud. On the Google Cloud Platform, for example, you get a $300 credit.
