Importing new data into a report

I am looking to enter data from JobBOSS into a pre-made Crystal Reports template. Is this possible, or will it have to be edited manually every time? Thank you.

How do you get the data from JobBoss? If you connect to the database where it's data is located, it should update whenever you run it.

Hi Dell - It is accomplished by using the export function on reports in JobBOSS. The report from JobBOSS will be pulled up in Crystal Reports where it can be edited freely. We would like to see if the reports imported from JOBBOSS can be generated into a similar report we make on Crystal Reports.

What format is the export in?

It is listed as RPT.

Crystal generally sees a file with an extension of ".rpt" as a Crystal report file. If this is the type of file that your data is in, then you may have some issues.

If the data is in plain text in the file and if you have the format of the data that's in the file, you can use the instructions in this blog - https://blogs.sap.com/2016/02/10/steps-to-fetch-data-from-a-text-file-to-crystal-report-2013/ - to build a report around around it. To then run the same report against new files, you would just have to have the file name and the data structure in the file be exactly the same as the one you used to design the report.
