how to create a link to URL

I want to create a program which has a menu bar item to call a third party report software. The third party report is called through URL link like http://10.10.16.28:8075/webroot/decision/view/report?viewlet=WorkBook2.cpt&op=write. Is there any tutorial on how to do it? I checked the help documentation and there is an ICF section and a sample of calling a HTTP service. Is this the solution? In the sample code there is a icf_node. Do i have to define it if I have the URL? Thx.

If the URL returns HTML and you just want to display it in a browser, use the class CL_GUI_HTML_VIEWER.

If you just want to get the answer, use the class CL_HTTP_CLIENT.

Note: you don't need to create an ICF service because in your scenario, your ABAP system has to act as an HTTP client, not as an HTTP server.
