Change of useful life in Asset Master

Hi All,

We are encountering one issue in production system where we have to adjust the useful life.

Now system is calculating the adjusted depreciation value for the properly for the current fiscal year. After changing useful life.

My concern is the values of the Previous Year depreciation where system has updated the adjusted depreciation value(Previous Year) as planned value. Now if we go ahead with the useful life change how this planned value of previous year effect in the system? and is there any other option to incorporate the useful life in asset master?

Hi Aritra

SAP standard behavior is only adjusting the depreciation for the current year in case the useful life is changed. Closed prior years where depreciation has already been posted are not adjusted. Please let me know in case you have any further questions.

My concern is about the planned value which was updated in previous year, will this have any effect in the current year-end activities?

Can you please post a screenshot of the planned values before and after the change? As I mentioned before, previous year numbers should not change if the depreciation run was executed in previous year?
