Hi SDNers,

Just realized that I have 555 forum points.

Here an SDN Trivia question:

10 points for the one who can explain how I can have uneven number of forum points when all we are giving out are 10, 6 or 2 points?

As this is the Other SDN Qestions section this is not even off topic

All the best, Mark.

Hi Anton and Rich,

Very close, but not totally yet.

The total solution can be put together by both of your questions or someone else who knows.

The SDN old-timers are better off, as far as you can talk about old-timers within a system that is only 3 years old, Mark.

I think there was a cut-off date before which initial posts were awarded a point.. It is funny though, I put the exact same question in an email to sdn@sap.com on 03/06/06 after noticing my points changed to an odd number that day.. and my question wasn't answered.. I didn't follow it up though as the other issue raised by me in that email was resolved.. it probably will be answered now.. thanks to Mark..

OK this is what I found out.. <b>the 1 point is awarded as Initial points for forum posts done before July 2004</b>

Hi Suresh Datti,

You are right. With the introduction of the point system we gave every SDNer one point for every forum post before July 2004.

For about half of them it resulted in an uneven number of points.

It's a badge of honor, you have been active during SDN ground zero time.

Enjoy, Mark.

Hey Mark,

At first I thought it would have been better if you just awarded 1 point to this answer.. just to 'EVEN' out the issue.. But then when you say <b>'badge of honor'</b>, I would like to cling onto it...

Suresh Datti

I am in the same boat, having odd number of forum points. I believe the reason may be, that you recieved 1 point for just posting.

In my points section it reads....

<i>Initial points for forum posts done before July 2004</i>

hi,

i have got 145 pts because I once got 1 point for my initial posting. this said, actually everyone who ever posted should have an odd number of forum points. I checked this and found people with an even number of points. there are two possibilities for this a) they didn't get their initial point or b) there are other ocassions where you get an odd number of extra points.

instead of receiving 10 points for this great explanation I'd prefer to get something like 3.1415926 points if possible. this would really be a unique gratification.

regards,

anton
