stopsap all does not stop the HANA db

Hello,

I installed a system with a SAP HANA database for the first time.

App server and database on 1 host, RHEL linux.

PRD is the SAP ID

PRH is the HANA DB ID

with user prdadm I run "stopsap all", the SAP systems stops but I get:

"Cannot find stopdb, DB shutdown failed" for the database.

I have to login with prhadm and run "HDB stop"

Is it normal behavior when you have HANA DB? I used to work with IBM DB2, and "stopsap all" script stops the database without any issues.

Thank you!

Ilian

Hi Ilian,

I faced same problem with HANA some time ago. Finally I decided not to use 'stopsap' anymore.

Because since

1763593 - Starting and stopping SAP system instances - startsap/stopsap are deprecated

was published you should use separated commands for stopping SAP NW systems

Starting and Stopping SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver

and HANA 2.0

Starting and Stopping SAP HANA Systems

[ or chapter 6.2.2.4 in

SAP HANA Administration Guide for SAP HANA Platform ]

only, which is the one supported way so far.

If you want to use 'stopsap' you have to adapt existing scripts or create your own script at your own risk.

Thanks for the reply, but it has the same output:

"Cannot find stopdb, DB shutdown failed"
