During VL01N transaction , Item category is not defined (message NO.VL324)

Hi All,

we are facing during During VL01N transaction, item category is not defined, kindly refer to screenshots and advise me accordingly.

    Check the information provided in the following SAP KBA:

    2214766 - VL324 "Item category & is not defined" Error occurs in the Delivery

    Incase of Batch Determination in Deliveries, Item Category Determination with Usage of "CHSP" is needed. Please analyse your Delivery Type, Item Category group in Material Master, Item Category of Main Item and maintain required Item Category of Batch Items with Usage as CHSP.

    For Batch search Procedure, follow this Path: IMG - Logistics - General - Batch Management - Batch Determination and Batch Check - Batch Search Procedure Allocation and Check Activation - Allocate SD Search Procedure/Activate Check.

    Also, there are other nodes in the above link for batch Search Procedure Definition and Assignment.

    • Please try the following procedures, as proposed on the KBA:

      1. Enter transaction 0184 or go to customizing path SPRO
        -> Logistics Execution
        -> Shipping
        -> Deliveries
        -> Define Item Category Determination in Deliveries
      2. Highlight the delivery type you wish to edit
      3. Add the entry "NORM" for the item category (or the value that has been maintained on the material master for the material)
      4. Add the entry "CHSP" for the usage
      5. Choose the batch item category type

    • When you post a query and give further updates, please add the content under "Comments" and not under "Answer" as you were not answering to a query but only providing additional informations as asked by the members.
