which on is better way to build the universe (narmal joins or derived tables)

hi

which is a better way to build the universe normal joins or derived tables

In over the database have OLTP related tables so many tables is there. every day may the transaction-related information stored in the tables.

exam: in the report want to show the 5 columns information, need to join more than 10 tables in universe . some times write the sub queries also for filtering data. sometime using the same table in 2 or 3 times also.

my question is ..which one is a better way to go for the universe or derived tables?

in case using derived tables any impacts on the report ?

thanks,

Setting up the joins between tables or creating consolidate derived table in universe is the same thing as derived table doesn't hold the data.at the run time both way joins are going to come in the picture.

i would suggest to look at the requirement and design the universe with combination of joins between tables, use short cut joins ( if possible so that extra joins can eliminate).Read purpose of the derived table and when to use.

Derived table will not solve the problem in your case.
