Can we re-order the Sales Area for a material?

Hello SD/MM experts,

Our user has created a material with Distribution channel as A and later extended the material with Distribution channel as B.

In MM03, we see 2 distribution channels however we want a specific one to be in the top order. Is this possible?

Best Regards,

Not sure what is that you are going to achieve but in MM03, you will only see distribution channel A first and B next. Is that not happening currently ?

    • Hello Lakshmipathi Ganesan,

We have a process by which the first distribution channel shown in the list is considered by a program to create something else. Now what we need is to consider EC_Germany as the first one for the material already created. Else we will have to go for the program logic change. We want Intercompany distribution channel to be second in the list (however while creating material, always started with Intercompany as the distrib.channel)

The order of distribution channels appearing in MM03 may or may not have anything to do with how your custom program selects the entries. If you really wish to have distribution channels in a different order you need to have a different code for the distribution channel for inter-company, e.g. 3C. Considering that the configuration is in a productive environment and that you already have master and transactional data - just request a change in the program logic. IMHO a program which relies on such fragile criterion as the position (or the order) of multiple entries needs to be revised anyway.

    • Hello Veselina Peykova,

I agree, however program was done many years ago and expected only one distrib.channel. This selection of additional distribution channel is a recent process change. Hence we were wondering if there is any way to push the required distribution channel as the first one.
