While I was trying to generate the Payroll Periods, I could see an option called "Carryout table change". Can anyone explain me the use of that option, please?

If you do not tick that box you are essentially carrying out a test run - your period will noit be saved.
So to get the periods stored in the DB and tagged to a transport you need to tick that box
