Hi Guys,
Sorry for a noob question. I just want to know. What is the difference between load balancer and web dispatcher?
Hello Philip,
Load Balancer is a device (hardware or software) that distributes network or application traffic across multiple servers. Web Dispatcher is a load balancing solution (or load balancer) from SAP which provides an easily consumable web infrastructure solution for most SAP products based on Web AS ABAP, JAVA or HANA XS.
As HTTP is standardized protocol for load balancing, other load balancer (third party) can also be used like Elastic Load Balancer/Application Load Balancer Service in AWS, Azure load balancer etc.
You can refer to below link to understand whether you can use different load balancer instead of SAP Web Dispatcher.
Regards,
Dennis Padia.
