Long processing message in pi

Hi experts,

Is it ok in production to have a long processing messages in sap pi which typically take 3-5 mins for processing to send message to outside of SAP and there could be several instances of it in parallel also.

Now testing in Dev and qual environment. But, in production we have a lot of active process running. So, need your advice on this.
