How to check the size of each content item on the content server (SuccessFactors iContent server)

Hi,

Our company was recently advised that there would now be a limit on the size of content in our content server of 1GB.

we know that there are videos (and potentially SCORM) in our content server which are larger than the new limit and as a result will not load upon launch, causing issues for multiple learning items already.

However, we do not know how to identify how many other pieces of content are on the server over 1GB which we need to compress which is why i am raising this question to see if anyone had any suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Ben,

I believe there may be enhancements in place to make this a bit easier within the SuccessFactors application itself, but for now, we have these 2 KBAs that describe how to check the size using 3rd party FTP clients:

https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2242091

https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2392682 [EDIT: we've removed this one and consolidated the info into https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2242091]

I think we may need to consolidate these into a single KBA, but wanted to make sure you had the information from both until we do so.

I hope this helps!

Thank you for sharing this with me Carly!

As far as you know at the moment in SuccessFactors, do you know if there's any way to produce a content by content breakdown of everything on the content server to check the sizes of each individual piece of content?

Thanks!

Hi Ben,

Due to the unique folder structure by content, there is not a simple way of doing this. Most content when unzipped creates a new directory folder so each folder that you see in the SFTP is a different piece of content. What I like to do is while using the Import Content Tool to rename the Content Object ID with the LMS Item ID. If possible, you might be able to change this at the content level (zip file) so that way there is an alignment between them all and you can easily manage your content.

You can follow the same steps in the KBA to check an individual size of a piece of content by just selecting one folder but this is not foolproof as perhaps the content might have unzipped and created many root folders.

Chris
