Customer owned returnable packaging

Hello gurus,

We have a scenario where we need to use returnable packaging. This packaging is designed by our engineers specifically for our products. We (as the customer) own these packages and ship them empty to suppliers to use, as needed, and return to us as goods are shipped. These should be valuated (again, owned by us).

My thought was to use a process similar to procurement sub-contracting to trigger sending the packaging to a vendor and visible in stock overview at the vendor. However, we obviously don’t want to consume the packaging into the purchased part at GR.

I’ve not been able to find any blogs, documentation, etc. for this scenario; all of the returnable packaging scenarios I’ve found use vendor owned packaging.

Appreciate any feedback you can provide. Thanks!!
